Itinerary

August 12, 2026—mark it down because this is when day turns to night. As the Moon glides between the Earth and the Sun, we’ll be treated to a total solar eclipse, a mesmerizing 2 minutes and 30 seconds where the Sun’s corona creates a glowing halo around the Moon. Partial eclipses are pretty common, but total eclipses like this, which can be visible from land, are very rare. This is your chance!

We’ll pick you up from a designated spot in Reykjavík and head straight to Snæfellsnes Peninsula. It is one of the prime spots for eclipse viewing, right in the eclipse path of totality. The drive takes about 3 hours, with no stops to keep us on schedule. As we cruise along, enjoy views of towering mountains, rugged coastlines, and lava fields—a perfect warm-up for the day ahead.

Snæfellsnes Peninsula in West Iceland is one of the top locations globally to witness this event due to its prime geography. Imagine photographing the eclipse with a backdrop of volcanic landscapes—talk about a once-in-a-lifetime shot! Our guides will scout the best spot based on weather and visibility, so you get the perfect view. Set up your gear, relax, and get ready for the show.

It’s here: 2 minutes and 30 seconds of pure magic. The world goes dark, silence falls, and for a moment, time seems to stop. Then, click! Your camera captures that perfect shot of the full eclipse, freezing a moment that won’t happen again anytime soon. Afterward, we will prolong the excitement a bit longer by sharing some drinks and stories. Then we'll pack up and head back to Reykjavik. We'll arrive in the city late in the evening, happy, inspired and with some amazing shots in our pockets.

Food

Food is not provided on this tour, and we will not make stops along the way in order to stay ahead of the traffic. Please plan accordingly and pack some snacks.

Travel Time & Viewing Location

To ensure we don’t miss this once-in-a-lifetime event due to traffic, we'll spend time finding the right location on the Snæfellsnes peninsula for the ultimate, uninterrupted view of the eclipse! Travel time to a good location will depend on weather conditions and cloud coverage.

Weather & Visibility

Visibility of the solar eclipse is dependent on the weather and, therefore, not guaranteed. In the event of bad weather, we’ll explore the attractions of the Snæfellsnes peninsula instead.

Don’t forget!

Photography equipment is not provided on this tour. You are welcome to bring your cameras and binoculars. Remember to use proper solar filters for your gadgets to protect your eyes.
