What Time Does the Sun Set in Iceland?

Sunrise, Sunset and Daylight during each month

Iceland is a country of great extremes. The winters are dark almost 24/7 and the summers are the complete opposite, providing us with the midnight sun. Here we have listed the time of sunrise, sunset and how much daylight you will get each month.

“What time does the sun set in Iceland?” If there ever is a question with many answers it would be this one. The question is not impossible to answer but when asked about hours of daylight in a country of such extremes the answer just isn’t an easy one to give.

Iceland is famous for being very polar and having two intense seasons. First, it’s the green bright summers with the midnight sun and rainbowed waterfalls and then second the dark and gruesome winters where the Auroras Borealis and white snow are thought to be sources of light.

In winter the daylight is around 4 hours, but feels like none sometimes and in summer its about 21 hours, but feels like 24.

After being given this knowledge you are likely starting to understand just why it is hard to answer the questions with a simple answer so,  to answer it in the best way we are going to split the sunset and sunrise by months.

It is truly fascinating to see how much the difference is and how rapidly it changes. Hope this comes in handy!
