Throughout the show, you’ll be seated in a state-of-the-art auditorium equipped with advanced motion technology. Volcano Express combines stunning visuals, realistic motion, and dramatic storytelling to bring Iceland’s volcanoes to life. Discover craters, magma chambers, and geothermal fields through real data and cutting-edge effects, while gaining insight into Iceland’s volcanoes and their impact on local life.

The virtual journey begins in Reykjavík and sweeps across Southwest Iceland’s most active volcanic zones. Fly past Esjan mountain and its vast lava plains, soar over Hengill near Þingvellir National Park, where geothermal power fuels the region, and glide across Bláfjöll, hiding Þríhnúkagígur, the world’s only accessible magma chamber. The ride ends at Keilir, a striking Ice Age volcano still alive with seismic energy.

Entirely indoors, this 15-minute adventure is a safe, family-friendly way to explore Iceland’s fiery underworld in any weather—all from the comfort of Harpa Concert Hall in downtown Reykjavík!

The Volcano Express is located within the Harpa Concert Hall, at Austurbakki 2, 101 Reykjavík.

The show runs every 15 minutes. Please arrive 10 minutes before the show.

To enjoy the ride, guests need to be at least 100 cm (around 3 ft 3 in) tall.

If you have a disability or prefer not to use dynamic seating, you’re welcome to sit in the reserved wheelchair area and enjoy the visuals and sounds.
