Standing on the hill of Öskjuhlíð, the Perlan museum has become a city icon. It is where visitors of all ages can learn more about fascinating glaciers, ice caves, volcanoes, northern lights, and more. We'll guide you through the interactive "Wonders of Iceland" exhibition, where you'll learn about the glaciers firsthand. You'll also get to walk through the world's first indoor ice cave! 

Iceland is a place known for its geologic activity. The island was created by volcanoes, earthquakes, and moving tectonic plates, which continue to shape Iceland today.    

The Perlan Museum is a perfect day activity for all the family. Both adults and kids will appreciate the educational and interactive exhibitions. 

Entry to the 360-degree observation deck of Reykjavik is included in the admission fee.  

  • The temperature inside the ice cave is 14°F (-10°C), so warm clothing is essential. We can provide you with a warm vest if you need it.  
  • You are allowed to take as many photos as you like.  
  • You do not need special shoes for the ice cave.  
  • Food and drink are not allowed in the ice cave.
  • Walk: It takes 20-40 minutes from downtown Reykjavík to Perlan.  
  • Drive: It takes 5-10 minutes to drive from downtown Reykjavík to Perlan. There is free parking for visitors right outside the building.  
  • Public Transportation: Strætó, the Icelandic public transport company, operates numerous city buses in Reykjavík. Line 18 stops the closest to Perlan. You can see their schedules, a map for walking, and more on their website here.
