The remote Wilderness Center in Iceland is famous not only for its distant location but also for its authenticity. On this tour, experience Icelandic freedom to the fullest by hopping on a horse and having the ride of your life.

The tour will start from the Wilderness Center, where first, you’ll get to choose a suitable horse and prepare it for the ride. After you’re ready, you’ll make your way to the deserted Kleif farm. Here you’ll have the opportunity to feel and see the wilderness surrounding you.

Those who enjoy a little challenge are welcome to test their strengths by going through the Jökulsá River in a traditional cableway.

Please note that the tour time includes picking a horse, saddling it up, riding, and taking pictures.

Important Information

The weight limit for the Icelandic horses is 100kg/220lbs. Unfortunately, this limit is non-negotiable due to animal and guest safety.

Please consider appropriate riding wear for the tour. We would suggest you bring waterproof gear with you.

Please do not wear shoes that have been used with horses outside of Iceland.

Unfortunately, pregnant guests cannot take part in the horseback riding tour for safety reasons.

For everyone’s safety, all participants should be able to understand and communicate in English.

Family tours for children aged 6–10 are available in the calendar. Please note that these tours are slightly shorter, lasting approximately 1 to 1.5 hours and require at least 3 participants for booking.

Is there a weight limit to join this tour?

Yes, the weight limit for this adventure is 100 kg / 220 lbs. This is of course with the welfare of the horses in mind.

How is it best to be ready for a pick-up for a tour with Arctic Adventures?

This is a great question. We ask all participants to be ready from the start of the pickup time indicated. This is because you may well be the first pick up of the day. Please be at your assigned location at the start time that you chose when booking the tour.

Can I drink alcohol before or during Arctic Adventures tours?

Before and during activities on the multi-day tours consumption of alcohol is prohibited. If we suspect that a participant is intoxicated, we will prohibit them from joining the activity.

After the activities of the day are finished, you are welcome to have a drink and relax.

Do you offer any family friendly tours, for younger children?

Yes, we do. Langjökull Ice Cave is a magical experience, the tour has no minimum age and is a wonderful option for the whole family. Whale Watching with our partner company Elding has been a favourite with families traveling with young children, these guys have a great success rate in seeing whales (upwards of 98% in the summertime).

Another option would be the Landmannalaugar Safari on this tour you get to explore parts of the Icelandic highlands and bathe in natural hot springs. Most of our super jeep tours are also suitable for children over the age of 6 years old.
