Itinerary

Your tour will start from Skaftafell Terminal, where you'll be greeted by your guide and pilot, who will tell you all about the flight route and give out safety instructions. Please make sure to be there 15 minutes before the booked time.

Once you're in a helicopter, you'll first experience Iceland's beauty from a bird's eye view. Among the stunning landscape, you'll also get to see the ice cave in all its glory from above. Take a minute to enjoy this moment, relax, and savor this experience. Soon you'll reach your destination – Skeiðarárjökull glacier.

Skeiðarárjökull is a valley glacier that comes from the south part of Vatnajökull, the largest glacier in Europe. Once you've landed, you'll take a short path to a secret glacier ice cave. Here you'll continue on a glacier tunnel big enough to allow you to stand comfortably. You'll make your way through this icy corridor with your guide.

While inside, you'll see shimmering blue and sapphire colors, distinctive shapes, and unique patterns on ice walls. All this remarkable atmosphere will make you feel speechless as well as adventurous.

After your cave expedition, a helicopter brings you back to Skaftafell Terminal.

  • Minimum requirement: for the tour to take place, there's a 4-person minimum passenger requirement. Booking this tour for less than 4 people is possible, but please consider that you'll be put in a group with other travelers.

  • Helicopter landings are only done when deemed safe by our pilots.

  • Please take into consideration the fact that ice caves change according to the season. Because of this reason, the view that you'll see during the tour might switch to the one shown in the pictures.
  • These are two separate tours and if one of the tours gets canceled, the other will still be available for you to join.
