Your day starts with a visit to the world under a lava field where you get the chance to witness how the volcanoes created Iceland. This is an amazing hike through an ancient underground lava tube. After exploring the fascinating underworld in Leiðarendi (Leidarendi) cave, you will be dropped off at a café bakery for a lunch break. You will then be picked up at around 13:00 for an exciting drive of the famous Golden Circle including Iceland’s key attractions Thingvellir National Park, Geysir and Gullfoss Waterfall.
Our first stop will be the historic Þingvellir National Park (en. Parliament Fields). Þingvellir is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the original birthplace of the oldest existing parliament in the world. It is also the place where the tectonic plates of America and Europe meet with a clearly visible rift valley. You will learn about the Vikings and their meetings here as well as the geological forces of nature that have formed the national park.
Continuing our journey, we head to the geothermal area of Geysir, home of the famous erupting hot spring. Come and watch the heated water gurgle, bubble, and escape the ground with enormous force up to 25 meters high.
Our third and last stop for the day is Gullfoss (e. Golden Waterfall), the undisputed queen of Icelandic waterfalls. Gullfoss is truly a great sight to admire, with water rushing down three steps of lava layers exhibiting breathtaking power and grandeur.
We end our day in Reykjavik where you can get dropped off at one of our authorized locations. A great way to explore a lava cave followed by Iceland’s most famous natural attractions!
You will return to Reykjavík around 06:00 pm approximately.
Pick up is at 08:00 am from your hotel or a nearby meeting point in Reykjavík. Picking everyone up can take up to 30 minutes, your patience is much appreciated.
Available pick-up points: Arctic Adventures’s pick-up list.
Remember to bring: Warm outdoor clothing, thermal underwear and a warm sweater of either fleece or wool, waterproof jacket and pants, headwear and gloves. Good warm sturdy hiking shoes are highly recommended.
What if I don’t own all of these clothing necessaries?
Don’t worry, you can always rent the necessary clothing in the booking process.
We recommend bringing gloves to wear inside the cave.
This is a great question. We ask all participants to be ready from the start of the pickup time indicated. This is because you may well be the first pick up of the day. Please be at your assigned location at the start time that you chose when booking the tour.

Yes, we do. Langjökull Ice Cave is a magical experience, the tour has no minimum age and is a wonderful option for the whole family. Whale Watching with our partner company Special Tours, has been a favourite with families traveling with young children, these guys have a great success rate in seeing whales (upwards of 98% in the summer time).
Another option would be the Landmannalaugar Safari on this tour you get to explore parts of the Icelandic highlands and bathe in natural hot springs. Most of our jeep tours are also suitable for children over the age of 6 years old. If you would like a nice and relaxing experience we would also recommend the Golden Circle & Secret Lagoon tour.

“Experience worth every cent”
Our guide, Saga, was extremely informative, polite and fun. We took the Caving and Golden circle route and were absolutely amazed. Driving time were not that long and the experiences were great!
“Go to the Lava Cave”
We did see the Golden waterfall and other interesting sights on our tour with Arctic Adventures; but the lava cave was the highlight of the tour for my husband and me. The scenery around the entrance was beautiful. We repelled down a rope, just a short distance but it was a little icy, but that was the beginning of a wonderful adventure. Our guide was terrific, knowledgeable, and helpful. The inside of the lava cave was so beautiful and unique.
