Your day starts with a visit to the world under a lava field. Where you get the chance to witness how the volcanoes created Iceland. You'll embark on an amazing hike through an ancient underground lava tube. After exploring the fascinating underworld in the Raufarhólshellir Lava Tube, you will be dropped off at a café bakery for a lunch break. You will then be picked up at around 12:00 for an exciting drive of the famous Golden Circle, including Iceland's key attractions, Thingvellir National Park, Geysir, and Gullfoss Waterfall.

Our first stop will be the historic Þingvellir National Park (en. Parliament Fields). Þingvellir is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the original birthplace of the oldest existing parliament in the world. It is also the place where the tectonic plates of North America and Europe meet with a clearly visible rift valley. You will learn about the Vikings and their meetings here as well as the geological forces of nature that have formed the national park.

Continuing our journey, we head to the geothermal area of Geysir, home of the famous erupting hot spring. Come and watch the heated water gurgle, bubble, and escape the ground with enormous force up to 25 meters high.

Our third and last stop for the day is Gullfoss (e. Golden Waterfall), the undisputed queen of Icelandic waterfalls. Gullfoss is truly an incredible sight to admire, with water rushing down three steps of lava layers exhibiting breathtaking power and grandeur.

We end our day in Reykjavik, where you can get dropped off at one of our authorized locations. A great way to explore a lava cave followed by Iceland’s most famous natural attractions!

Golden Circle and Lava Tube

We had a fantastic day out with Micha and 14 other tourists on the Golden Circle and Caving trip. We had hired water proof pants which were well and truly needed due to the rain and damp conditions inside the lava tube. We also stopped off at the Silfra fissure to drop off and pick up the snorkelers in our group. That was excellent to see too. Thanks Micha for a fun day out!

Golden Circle with lava caving

For our last day in Iceland we wanted to do the Golden Circle tour and add in some type of adventure, so decided on the Lava Cave. It turned out to be a full day of wonder and awe. Loved it and highly recommend. We started with the Gullfoss waterfalls, which were amazing. Had time to get out and explore. Then on to the Geysir hot springs. After a quick break for lunch, we headed to the lava cave for our hike. Then finished the day with a hike in the national park, Pingvellir, for more waterfalls. The tour was fabulous and the 4 of us couldn't decide on the best part of the day, as we totally enjoyed it all. The day ran smoothly, and it was a small group which was great.

Good tour with great tour guide

We had scheduled the Glacier, Waterfall and Volcano Tour but the day before it was cancelled due to the high winds. We called Arctic Adventures to find a replacement and went with The Golden Circle and Caving.

Our guide was named Adolf and he was awesome. He was very informative and gave us recommendations for dinner! Thank you Adolf. There was only 6 of us on the tour and 4 went snorkeling while the two of us went caving and had a great time! Would go with this group again.

Golden Circle and Caving

I booked a minibus tour of the Golden Circle and Caving, but what I received was so much more. Gilli and Hinrik were so quick to explain the history of their country and filled the day with jokes as well as facts. We avoided the big bus tours and we ended up at amazing locations with fewer tourists. Gilli gave advice of how to take the best photos (he even took one of me in the cave)! Very hospitable tour guides and. It afraid to speak with us throughout the tour or give suggestions of where to eat/what to do for the remainder of our time. I would 100% recommend this tour and I would sign up for another tour with this company in a heart beat. Thank you Gilli and Hinrik for an unforgettable day in Iceland!

Golden Circle and Lava Caving

Just completed the Golden Circle and lava caving tour with Gilli from Artic Adventures and it was absolutely above my expectations. Not only did he take the time to thoroughly explain everything, but he heard about my love for Game of Thrones and threw in some bonus stops at famous filming places for the show! We had a small group of only three so he decided to take us on a more adventurous lava cave tour and it blew me away. we stopped frequently while in the cave to hear stories and take pictures. Gilli did a fantastic job at making sure everyone was satisfied.

Golden Circle, lava caving, small group tour

Richard our tour guide was very personable and informative. There were only 9 people in the tour which was a nice change from the big bus tours we had done. Be prepared to exert yourself a little touring the cave, but it is an unforgettable experience.

Lava Caving & Golden Circle

Reviewed on November 05, 2015 by RJLanc Review from Tripadvisor

We visited Iceland at the end of October and, after a lot of research, booked the above experience with Arctic Adventures.
We were picked up by Thor who said we were the only people on the tour that day. He was knowledgeable and friendly and hearing about the Icelandic sagas in the pitch black of the lava cave was an unforgettable experience.
We never felt rushed at the different locations and our guide was always happy to answer questions about the lava cave and Golden Circle. His recommendation of the lamb stew at Gullfoss was an excellent one!
The day was rounded off with a trip to a farm which produces its own ice cream and you sit and eat it on the other side of the window to the cows. We would have never found this otherwise and it was a great way to round off the day.
We wouldn't hesitate to recommend this company and especially this tour.

Yes, we do. Langjökull Ice Cave is a magical experience, the tour has no minimum age and is a wonderful option for the whole family. Whale Watching with our partner company Elding has been a favourite with families traveling with young children, these guys have a great success rate in seeing whales (upwards of 98% in the summertime).
