Your tour begins when you are picked up from your hotel in Reykjavík and driven to Thingvellir National Park, a UNESCO world heritage site for your first adventure of the day. In the national park, lies Silfra fissure one of Iceland‘s otherwordly sites that is famous for its heavenly shades of blue. The crystal clear water in the deep fissure gives you a feeling of being weightless as you float down the lazy current. With more than 100 meters of visibility under the water, it is a sight not easily forgotten! The snorkeling is a relaxing but exotic trip in an unbelievably beautiful environment.

You’ll stop for a lunch break between activities. Just make sure to bring your own packed lunch, as meals are not included on this tour.

Horseback riding at the beautiful Laxnes farm will be your second adventure. From Silfra your guide will drive you directly to the farm for a 1.5-2 hour horseback riding adventure. The farm is located in the historic Mosfellsdalur valley, a home to wonderful Icelandic horses, green fields and geothermal energy. The Icelandic horse has gained notice worldwide for its extraordinary personality and the unique 4th gait tölt. Tölt is softer than most other gaits and an amazing experience to try.

After the riding tour your riding guide will drive you back to Reykjavik.

Important

Pick-up starts at 08:30 am. Please be ready at your pick-up location at the given time and keep a lookout for our guides and car. Note that the pick-up can take up to 30 min.

Return time: You will return to Reykjavík around 17:00 pm approximately.

To participate in the tour, you must read and sign the medical statement form in our Snorkeling Handbook before booking. If you have any medical conditions, medical approval from a doctor is required.

Age limit: 12 years old. Participants under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or adult guardian booked on the same tour.

Dry suit sizes: While we would like everyone to join our tour, our gear sizes reflect what is available on the market, and it is important guests are within the size parameters. This ensures the safety equipment can serve its purpose and keep guests from getting cold in the glacial water.

Weight limit: 99-265 lbs (45-120 kg)

Height limit: 4'11" - 6'7" (150-200 cm)

English: It is important that you can both understand and communicate in English in order to participate in the tour.

Photos: Underwater pictures are taken by our guides during the tour so it is not necessary to bring a waterproof camera.

Need glasses? You will be wearing a snorkeling mask while in the water and you won’t be able to wear your glasses underneath. So unless you are bringing your own prescription mask we recommend that you acquire contact lenses for your snorkeling tour.

Please note

These are two separate tours and if one of the tours gets canceled, the other will still be available for you to join.
There’s a break between the horse riding and snorkeling sessions, so we recommend bringing a packed lunch. There won’t be a stop at a restaurant, and meals aren’t included in the tour. A simple sandwich, snack, and drink will do the trick to keep you fueled for the second part of the day.

Can The Guide Advise if I am Eligible For Rescheduling the Tour and/or a Refund?

No, our guides are not able to provide information on these matters, but our team will be happy to assist you. We kindly ask that you reach out to our customer care team regarding any questions or concerns.

What is the best way to prepare for the tour?

All relevant information for the tour can be found in our snorkeling handbook.

Can I bring my camera on my snorkeling tour?

Yes, you can bring a camera, but we recommend to have a waterproof one if you want to have it in the water with you.

Where is the meeting point for the snorkeling tours at Þingvellir?

If you plan to drive and meet us on location, the meeting point is at the Silfra car park, in Thingvellir National Park.

Note that the National Park charges a small parking fee of 500 ISK.

We kindly ask you to be at the Silfra car park 15 Minutes prior to your tour starts.

Do you offer photos from the snorkeling tour?

Our guides normally have an underwater camera and usually, take photos during the tour without any fees. If you are interested in photos please let your guide know before you go into the water and after the tour, the guide will provide you the code to the folder which includes all the photos from that day.

Kindly note that photos cannot be guaranteed. Our customers’ safety and well-being are our first priority, and therefore the guide will focus on snorkelers as a priority when in the water and will be taking photos when everyone is comfortable.

Can I wear glasses during the snorkeling?

No. Unfortunately, glasses don’t create a seal between your face and the mask. We recommend wearing contact lenses instead.

I am pregnant, can I participate in the snorkeling tour?

You are not able to participate in the snorkelling tour if you are pregnant.

Do I need to be able to understand and communicate in English in order to participate in the tour?

Yes, the tour is directed in English and therefore you need to be able to understand English to participate.

Can we do snorkeling and diving at the same time?

Some snorkelling tours match with a dive tour, and then you will be in the same area at the same time. You will, however, be in separate groups with separate guides, and won’t be in the water exactly at the same time.
