Horse Riding & Snorkeling Tour

You’ll begin at Laxnes Horse Farm in the morning, just outside Reykjavík. Here, you’ll meet your riding guide and head out on horse ride. Afterward, drive yourself to Thingvellir National Park. Before snorkeling, there’s some time to explore the park, one of the stops on the Golden Circle, and have your packed lunch. Then, meet your snorkeling guide at the Silfra snorkeling site. After the tour, you’re free to continue your day wherever you like. 

Meeting point (horseback riding): Laxnes Horse Farm in the Mosfellsdalur valley. Arrive by 9:45 AM. 

Meeting point (snorkeling): Arctic Adventures Silfra Fissure in Thingvellir National Park. Snorkeling starts at 2 PM in summer (June 1 to August 31) and at 1:30 PM in winter (September 1 to May 31). Arrive 15 minutes early. 

Getting there: Pickup and drop-off aren't included, so you'll need a car to reach both locations. The drive between them takes about 30 minutes. Thingvellir National Park charges a parking fee. 

Directions to the Silfra meeting point: Park at Thingvellir P5 parking. From there, walk 400 m (1,312 ft) along the road to a smaller car park with the snorkel and dive vans, and look for one with Arctic Adventures logo.  

We’ll collect you from your pick-up point in Reykjavík and head to Thingvellir National Park for a morning of snorkeling in Silfra. After this activity, once you’ve changed, your guide will take you to Laxnes Horse Farm for an afternoon horse ride. You’ll be back in Reykjavík in the late afternoon. 

Pickup information:  

Pickup is from dedicated points in Reykjavík: Arctic Adventures' pickup list.  

Summer (June 1 to August 31): pickup starts at 7:45 AM. Winter (September 1 to May 31): pickup starts at 8:30 AM. Picking everyone up can take up to 30 minutes, so be ready at your chosen point and look out for our guides and car. 

Medical statement: Before booking, read the Snorkeling Handbook and sign the medical statement form inside it. If you have any medical conditions, you'll need approval from a doctor.  

Swimming: You need to be able to swim independently without a life jacket and feel comfortable in the water. 

Pregnancy: You can't join this tour if you're pregnant. 

Age limit: 12 years. Participants under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or adult guardian booked on the same tour. 

Weight and height limits: While we'd like everyone to join our tour, our dry suit sizes reflect what's available on the market, so guests need to be within these limits. This makes sure the safety equipment works properly and keeps you warm in the glacial water.  

Weight limit: 45 to 120 kg (99 to 265 lbs)  

Height limit: 150 to 200 cm (4'11" to 6'7") 

The 120 kg maximum also applies to horseback riding, as it's the most our Icelandic horses can carry. 

English: You need to be able to understand and communicate in English to join the tour. 

Photos: Our guides take underwater photos during the tour, so you don't need a waterproof camera. We can't guarantee photos, as the guides' priority is the group's safety. 

Glasses: You can't wear glasses under a snorkel mask. Unless you're bringing your own prescription mask, we recommend wearing contact lenses. 

You can book this tour in two ways, and the order of the activities depends on which one you choose: 

With pickup: You snorkel in Silfra first, then ride at Laxnes farm. We take you from Reykjavík to both activities and back. 

Meet on location: You ride at Laxnes Horse Farm first, then snorkel in Silfra. You drive yourself to both locations, and pickup and drop-off aren't included. 

Horseback riding and snorkeling are operated separately. If one is canceled, you can still join the other.
