The captivating beauty of Londrangar Basalt Cliffs is beyond what words can describe. These tall cliffs are a natural wonder and are called the Rocky Castle of Iceland.
The Rocky Castle of Iceland, Londrangar Basalt Cliffs, is one of the best geological wonders located on the Snæfellnes Peninsula. No pictures can ever do justice to the stunning beauty of this natural wonder. The towering two pillars on the shores near Hellnar are ancient volcanic plugs that were formed thousands of years ago. One of the towers is about 71 meters, and the other is about 61 meters high. Through the years, these towering pillars have had the power to withstand the forces of the ocean, eruptions, and even pushed more lava. If that isn't an astounding creation by the nature, what else could be?
Would you believe it if told you that these stunning pillars were once a volcanic crater? It's true. These incredible formations have stood strong through the test of time, weather, and ever-changing environmental conditions. They can be easily accessed from the Visitor’s Center.
From Reykjavík, Londrangar is located 192 km away and is only about 2 hours and thirty minutes by car.
