Soak in geothermal pools surrounded by birch and pine, with views opening out over Eyjafjörður, one of Iceland's longest fjords. Forest Lagoon's setting is its signature: wooded landscapes are uncommon here, and a spa sitting inside one even more so. Steam drifts up through the trees as you move between the pools, a Finnish sauna, and a cold plunge, the contrast bathing that's long been part of Icelandic wellness culture.
Choose from three admission packages: standard entry, or admission with a towel and one or two drinks included. Forest Lagoon sits just minutes from central Akureyri, with a free shuttle running from town.
Forest Lagoon sits in Vaðlaskógur forest, a 5-minute drive from central Akureyri across Eyjafjörður fjord. The two geothermal pools, the Finnish sauna, and a cold plunge share one open area, so guests can move freely between them. Both pools hold 37°C (98.6°F), the sauna runs near 80°C (176°F), and the plunge sits at 11°C (51.8°F). Most visits last around two hours, and the lagoon is open daily from 10 AM to midnight, with guests asked to leave the water by 11:30 PM. Forest Bistro on site serves light dishes and drinks throughout the day.
