Itinerary

The first stop on the Silver Circle is Deildartunguhver, Europe’s most powerful hot spring – a truly incredible sight that is like nothing else that you will ever see. Its thundering waters generate vast plumes of steam – making for a majestic spectacle. Deildartunguhver also supplies a number of towns in the surrounding area with hot water – another example of how Icelanders utilize their unique landscape for the good of the environment.

We’ll drive inland to the Hraunfossar and Barnafossar waterfalls – two stunningly beautiful waterfalls that are the pride of west Iceland.  Hraunfossar is particularly special – comprised of thousands of tiny cascades that combine into a dramatic cacophony of thundering water. These rivulets emerge from the colorful Hallmundarhraun lava field – making for one of the best photo opportunities that you will ever get! We’ll also stop at Barnafossar, whose beautiful foggy blue waters have a supernatural quality about them. They are known as ‘the children’s falls’ and your knowledgeable local guide will tell you all about the tragic story that earnt them this name.

We’ll take a break for a picnic lunch in the rolling Husafell woodlands (lunch not included) and then drive to Langjokull glacier. Langjokull (the long glacier) is Iceland’s second largest and is a renowned icy wonderland that will provide memories that will last you a lifetime.

Langjokull is also the perfect place to really put our super jeeps to the test – travelling along lesser known paths so we can see this vast icy wilderness in all its majesty. Look out of the window to see a world of craggy crevasses, deep moulins and remarkable ice sculptures. If the conditions are right, then we’ll take the mountain pass back to Reykjavik – crossing the famous Kaldidalur (cold valley), which offers the greatest views of Thingvellir National Park in Iceland. The perfect way to end a truly incredible day!

Pick up: We’ll confirm the pickup time and place after the booking confirmation – be sure to designate your chosen pickup point during the booking confirmation.
