Leave Reykjavík behind and head to where every stop tells a different story. This small-group tour follows the classic Golden Circle route, famous for its geysers, waterfalls, and national parks, before taking you to Iceland’s newest spa, Laugarás.
Travel comfortably by minibus with a local guide who shares stories about Iceland’s geology, history, and folklore. Walk between tectonic plates, unwind in warm mineral waters by the river, and return home with glowing skin and a clear mind full of memories.
Your first stop is Þingvellir (Thingvellir) National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site where history and nature intertwine. This is where Iceland’s first parliament was founded back in 930 AD, making it one of the oldest democratic sites in the world. You’ll walk through Almannagjá gorge, where the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates are slowly drifting apart, shaping the rugged cliffs around you. Expect moss or snow-covered ravines, ancient volcanic formations, and wide open plains—so keep your camera ready.
A short drive brings you to Gullfoss, one of Iceland’s most powerful waterfalls, fed by the glacial river Hvitá. Here, the roaring water curtain plunges in two tiers into a deep canyon, filling the valley with mist and thunder. If the sun’s out, you might catch a rainbow stretching across the cascade. During the spring melt season, up to 2,000 cubic meters (70,600 cubic feet) of glacial water surges over the falls every second. In winter, Gullfoss partially freezes, creating mesmerizing ice formations that you can observe from the upper and lower viewing platforms.
Next up is the Geysir Geothermal Area, where you’ll feel the heat of Iceland’s volcanic energy up close. Bubbling pools and hissing vents dot the landscape, and every few minutes, Strokkur geyser shoots boiling water up to 20 meters (65 feet) into the air. The air smells of sulfur, reminding that the earth is breathing under your feet. Nearby lies the original Great Geysir, once Iceland’s most powerful. This now sleeping giant gave its name to all geysers around the world.
Wrap up the day with a visit to Laugarás Lagoon, a brand-new geothermal spa, opened in August 2025. Nestled beside the Hvítá river and surrounded by nature, the lagoon offers multiple warm, mineral-rich pools kept at 37°C (98.6°F). Enjoy a cold plunge pool, forest pool, two saunas, and a waterfall feature. Relax with a drink from the swim-up bar, surrounded by peaceful countryside views. The on-site restaurant, led by a local chef, serves seasonal dishes from organic ingredients. Choose between the Birki ticket (standard entry) or the Lerki ticket (includes towel and complimentary drink).
After your soak, sit back and enjoy a quiet, scenic drive back to Reykjavík, where you’ll be dropped off at your original pick-up point.
Pick-up and drop-off at Reykjavík city center are included. Please be ready at the designated meeting point in downtown Reykjavík 30 minutes before departure.
