This 1-hour ATV tour in Grindavík puts you straight onto the Reykjanes Peninsula’s raw volcanic terrain, riding across fresh lava landscapes and older lava fields in the same area. You’ll travel with a local guide who knows the area inside out, with helmet, gloves, overalls, and rain gear included to keep you comfortable in changing weather. The tour starts at the operator’s base in Grindavík, with free pick-up available in Grindavík and from the Blue Lagoon on request.
Meet your guide at the 4x4 Adventure Iceland base in Grindavík, gear up, and receive a quick safety briefing before heading out on the ATV. From town, you’ll ride into the surrounding volcanic terrain and across the fresh lava field created by recent eruptions. The dark, broken lava shows how quickly the terrain here can shift.
Along the way, you’ll also pass through older lava formations on the Reykjanes Peninsula, where eruptions have shaped the same area for thousands of years. This route brings you close to the new craters for a short stop to take in the views and grab photos. After that, you’ll ride back to Grindavík to wrap up your 1-hour adventure.

Yes, we do. Langjökull Ice Cave is a magical experience, the tour has no minimum age and is a wonderful option for the whole family. Whale Watching with our partner company Elding has been a favourite with families traveling with young children, these guys have a great success rate in seeing whales (upwards of 98% in the summertime).
Another option would be the Landmannalaugar Safari on this tour you get to explore parts of the Icelandic highlands and bathe in natural hot springs. Most of our jeep tours are also suitable for children over the age of 6 years old. If you would like a nice and relaxing experience we would also recommend the Golden Circle & Secret Lagoon tour.
