Unwind in the soothing, milky-blue waters of Earth Lagoon while taking in the volcanic scenery of Lake Mývatn.
Earth Lagoon (formerly Mývatn Nature Baths) is known for its naturally heated, mineral-rich waters and relaxing atmosphere. Surrounded by North Iceland’s lava fields and mountain views, this geothermal spa is a peaceful place to slow down and recharge year-round.
Your visit to Earth Lagoon is all about unwinding at your own pace. Soak in the warm geothermal pool, enjoy the natural steam baths, hot tub, and cold tub, and take in sweeping views of the volcanic landscape. You can also stop by the on-site café or swim-up bar to purchase refreshments during your visit.
The heart of Earth Lagoon is its open-air geothermal pool, where warm, milky-blue water invites you to slow down and soak in the moment. Heated naturally from deep beneath the ground, the water stays at a comfortable 36–40°C (97–104°F) year-round.
The lagoon is designed for comfort, with a soft gravel-and-sand bottom and plenty of space to unwind. The water is rich in natural minerals and naturally resistant to bacteria, so it stays clean without the use of harsh chemicals.
Because the geothermal water contains sulfur, it is best to remove jewelry before entering the lagoon and store it safely in your locker.
Earth Lagoon also features natural steam baths, where steam rises gently through the floor. The experience is completely natural, and conditions can vary slightly depending on the weather. The temperature is usually around 45°C (113°F), with humidity levels close to 100%.
