Itinerary

Start the adventure in Reykjavík, where guides will pick you up from the designated meeting point. Once everyone is on board the comfy minibus, we’ll head straight to the travelers’ beloved Golden Circle. Here, you’ll witness the thundering Gullfoss waterfall, watch Strokkur geyser erupt every 5–8 minutes, and explore Thingvellir National Park—the birthplace of Iceland's first parliament. Feel the mist of the falls, walk past the bubbling hot springs, and stroll through the Rift Valley, right where the Eurasian and North American tectonic plates meet.

For the second part of the journey, hop on a red Monster Truck and zoom across the vast Langjökull ice cap. You’ll learn about the glacier’s past and see its deep cracks and crevasses from the safety of a sturdy vehicle. Then, you’ll pause for a hot cocoa, Jökla liqueur, tea or coffee, and a taste of “Kleinur” (Icelandic pastry) at a scenic glacier spot. Enjoy a sled ride, try snow golf, and soak in the views before returning to the capital in the evening, tired but full of heartwarming memories that will last a lifetime.

Your tour begins in Reykjavík at one of the convenient pick-up locations around the city. Pick-up starts at 8:30 AM and can take up to 30 minutes. Look for the Arctic Adventures guides in a minibus/Super Jeep (depending on group size).

After the Golden Circle tour, you’ll switch to the Monster Truck at the Sleipnir Tours Iceland meeting point by Gullfoss waterfall. Once the glacier adventure is complete, you’ll return to the Gullfoss meeting point, switch back to the minibus, and head to Reykjavík.

Please keep in mind that you’ll spend several hours on a glacier. Bring warm outdoor clothing, a waterproof jacket, pants, gloves, a hat, and sturdy hiking boots.

Please note that the Monster Truck part of the tour may be cancelled due to sudden weather changes on the glacier. If that happens, you’ll still be able to enjoy the Golden Circle tour.

Icelandic weather tends to change quickly, so for everyone’s safety, we reserve the right to adjust or cancel snack break activities on the Langjökull ice cap.

FAQ

Iceland is known for its colorful weather. It can sometimes show you all 4 seasons in one day.

Dressing for this sort of weather can be a challenge so we always recommend dressing in layers. 3 or 4 upper layers are highly recommended such as a light t-shirt (preferably wool) next to the skin, then a fleece or heavy wool garment, topped off with a waterproof windbreaker.

Jeans are not recommended for our trips as they become very heavy, cold and uncomfortable to wear when they get wet.

Lightweight hiking pants, track pants or long cotton pants are best and then wind/waterproof pants over. We also recommend using sunglasses and sunscreen even if it is cloudy due to the high UV and sunlight reflecting off of the glacier.

You will need sturdy hiking boots with ankle support that fit crampons for the glacier hiking tours. If you do not own a pair then we rent out good hiking boots as well as a waterproof raincoat and trousers.

We recommend bringing your own backpack on our full day or 1/2 day tours. It’s great to carry a small lunch and some extra clothing.

You can bring your camera along, and you should definitely bring one since the setting on the tour is full of amazing, scenic views.

We do not provide lunch on any of our trips, so we recommend you bring your own lunch (for the longer trips), snacks and a bottle of water (you can refill it on the trip).

Our tours are split into four different categories that help participants to understand what to expect from the tour. The categories are Easy, Moderate, Challenging and Demanding. Each tour is rated making it easier to find tours that suit you.

If you're having trouble booking your tour, please note that we accept payments in Canadian Dollars (CAD), American Dollars (USD), British Pounds (GBP), Euros (EUR), and Icelandic Króna (ISK). Start by checking with your credit card provider to ensure they allow payments in your selected currency.

Sometimes, your credit card company may need to pre-authorize the transaction before you can complete your booking online.

If you're still facing issues while trying to book through our website, please reach out to our Customer Care Team. We’re here to help you!

Crampons are metal spikes that we attach to the soles of your hiking shoes, these enable you to walk on the glacier ice without slipping. Get to know how to put crampons.
