Move at your own pace through warm geothermal pools, pause at a cold plunge, and step into saunas that open toward the Hvítá River and the surrounding landscape. Set along the Golden Circle, Laugarás Lagoon invites you to slow down between iconic sights. The lagoon opened in late 2025 as one of South Iceland’s newest geothermal experiences.
Laugarás Lagoon is one of the newest additions along the Golden Circle, Iceland’s most popular sightseeing route, which includes Geysir, Gullfoss, and Þingvellir National Park. Created as a modern take on Iceland’s long tradition of geothermal bathing, the lagoon combines warm geothermal water, changing light, and a strong connection to the landscape.
Opened in late 2025, the two-story outdoor lagoon sits above the Hvítá River, allowing guests to move between warm pools, a cold plunge, and saunas while remaining closely connected to South Iceland’s scenery.
Visitors can also choose to dine at Ylja Restaurant, led by Icelandic chef Gísli Matt, with a seasonal menu based on locally sourced ingredients.
The lagoon suits couples, families, groups of friends, and solo visitors seeking a relaxed stop just off the Golden Circle route.
Laugarás Lagoon is located in South Iceland along the Golden Circle, near the village of Laugarás and the banks of the Hvítá River.
