Itinerary

Laugarás Lagoon is one of the newest additions along the Golden Circle, Iceland’s most popular sightseeing route, which includes Geysir, Gullfoss, and Þingvellir National Park.  Created as a modern take on Iceland’s long tradition of geothermal bathing, the lagoon combines warm geothermal water, changing light, and a strong connection to the landscape.

Opened in late 2025, the two-story outdoor lagoon sits above the Hvítá River, allowing guests to move between warm pools, a cold plunge, and saunas while remaining closely connected to South Iceland’s scenery.

Visitors can also choose to dine at Ylja Restaurant, led by Icelandic chef Gísli Matt, with a seasonal menu based on locally sourced ingredients.

The lagoon suits couples, families, groups of friends, and solo visitors seeking a relaxed stop just off the Golden Circle route.

  • Birki Pass (Standard Admission): Includes 2-hour access to the geothermal lagoon, outdoor wellness areas, and changing facilities with personal lockers. Guests bring their own towel.
  • Lerki Pass (Premium Admission): Includes full lagoon access for 3-hours, plus towel use and one drink at the swim-up bar, offering a more relaxed visit with fewer essentials to plan for.
  • Ösp Pass (Full Wellness Experience): The most inclusive option, combining lagoon access for 5 hours, towel use, one drink at the swim-up bar, and a two-course meal at Ylja Restaurant.

Laugarás Lagoon is located in South Iceland along the Golden Circle, near the village of Laugarás and the banks of the Hvítá River
