Snorkeling at Silfra fissure is an activity like no other. It's the only place in the world where you can snorkel or dive in between tectonic plates. Instagram is filled with great captures from this place, we gathered a few.

Silfra fissure is a visibility wonderland snorkelers and divers just can’t get enough of. Located in Þingvellir, UNESCO heritage site, surrounded by beautiful nature, it is stunning from the moment you arrive there. Silfra is also where the Eurasian and North-American plates meet but drift apart. The crack is filled with glacier water from Langjökull Glacier about 50 km away,  making it possible for you to go snorkeling or diving in between the plates. The experience is like no other.

The water that you float in has filtered through lava for over 100 years which has made the visibility of the site unbelievable. The water is also quite tasty, we recommend a sip!

After reading this, it might not come as much of a surprise that Silfra is a very popular place to photograph and film!

Here we will show you some of the best we have found on Instagram (also look out for the best snorkeling captions on Instagram).
