Iceland Winter Escape - 3 Day Adventure Trip in Iceland

A weekend adventure trip to Reykjavik Iceland. 3 days of sightseeing and activities.

Friday-Sunday

-Activities: Lava caving, glacial hiking & introduction to ice climbing.

-Sites visited: Gullfoss, Geysir, Thingvellir, Skógafoss & Blue Lagoon.

Escape to the wintery island of ice and fire and you are sure to find unforgettable adventures and breathtaking beauty. You will see erupting geysers & thundering waterfalls, explore mysterious lava caves and stand on the rugged Sólheimajökull glacier and climb one of its ancient ice walls…and there is more!

Guaranteed departures:
Every Friday starting at 9:00 AM from the 1st of September – 31st of May. Pick-ups from hotels in Reykjavík are between 9:00 and 9:30 AM.

Rough Itinerary:

Friday: The Golden Circle and Lava Caving in the Leiðarendi Cave.

Saturday: Glacial hike with introduction to ice climbing and the Skógafoss waterfall.

Sunday:
Sleep in and explore Reykjavik on your own followed by a visit to the Blue Lagoon in the afternoon.

Upgrade this trip to include the Northern Lights Hunt in a super-jeep that includes a lobster dinner down on Iceland’s south coast for 25.990 ISK*

Price: 46.990 ISK

Add accommodation at the Reykjavík Backpackers Hostel in a four persons Dorm Deluxe® for three nights for 10.470 ISK per person. Double rooms also available for 13.470 ISK per person for three nights.

Includes all transfers with a pick up from Reykjavík, a packed lunch (no lunch included on the Sunday) and entrance fee to the Blue Lagoon. Does not include flights, dinner or accommodation (book accommodation in Reykjavik). Duration of trip: 3 days. Available: 1st of September to 31st of May. Age limit: 14 years. Minimum: 2 persons (only on the specified days). Maximum: 14 persons.

Itinerary:

Day 1 / Friday:
On Friday morning we head out for an amazing visit to the Golden Circle. There we will visit the Geysir hot spring area, the Gullfoss waterfall and Þingvellir national park. We dine on a traditional Icelandic meat soup at the Gullfoss Café. We will then explore the amazing Leiðarendi lava cave with its surreal heat formations and winding underground tunnel system.


Day 2 / Saturday:
On Saturday morning we head along the South Coast towards the glaciers. Arriving at Sólheimjökull glacier we gear up for a glacier hike. Sólheimajökull is a rugged, cracked and utterly breathtaking outlet glacier. After about an hour of glacier hiking we stop at one of the many ice walls. There you can, under the supervision of experts, try your hand at climbing the ice. On the way back to Reykjavík we make a short stop at the Skógafoss waterfall.


Day 3 / Sunday:
On Sunday morning you can sleep in and relax after your adventurous weekend, maybe explore Reykjavík a little before heading on to the world famous Blue Lagoon for a relaxing Sunday afternoon in the milky blue waters.

Timing:

Friday: 9:00 for the Golden Circle & caving, back to RVK at 17:00.

Saturday: 9:00 for the glacier trip, back to RVK at 18:00.

Sunday: The Blue Lagoon is open from 10:00 to 20:00. Choose between six different departures to the Blue Lagoon w. bus transfer. Price includes entrance fee.
