Combination Tour:
River
rafting on the Markarfljót River, lunch in the highland valley of the
Thundergod Thor, off road super jeep driving, glacial hike and optional
ice climbing on Sólheimajökull glacier.
We start with
whitewater rafting on the Markarfljót River through its towering and
magical canyon. The trip starts in the interior of Iceland and we use a
specially equipped vehicle to get there, driving across rivers and
streams. The river has an endless supply of waves, action and
breathtaking beauty.
We emerge from the river in the highland
valley of the Thundergod Thor. The valley is extraordinary place,
surrounded by mountains & glaciers, boxed in by volatile white
water rivers. There we feast on a power lunch in the company of
mountains and then continue towards the glaciers in a Super Truck. The
drive will take us over powerful rivers and off road obstacles.
Arriving
at Sólheimajökul glacier we gear up with crampons, harnesses, ice axes
and helmets. We then hike up on to the glacier and visit the amazing
phenomenon that a crawling glacier is. It is a rugged, moving, block of
ancient ice and it’s amazing land-changing power can be witnessed
everywhere on the hike. A truly memorable experience!
In
short, this is the trip of a lifetime, you get to see and do what most
of the population will only dream about and very few ever try.
